Yo
vi al Diablo en la Piedra Chata (I saw the Devil laying on the flat stone)
Theatre and Visual Arts joined together in an expedition to Cruz del Eje river (Cruz del Eje department, Córdoba province, Argentina) where the devil lives in the shape of an iguana, according to the tales. Based on popular legends and aesthetic concepts, the project is focused on recording the magical fact through many formats while integrating the whole diversity; from the production to the documentary film, photography, music composition, critique, binnacle catalogue, and more.
“I saw the devil in the shape of an iguana on the flat stone, I wanted to kill him but failed. The devil is on the hot stone. Some adventurous children arising an infinite tenderness hide their hands, afraid the devil eat them. I aimed the gun at his head and the shot pierces it. But he jumps and hides in the scrub”.
We, ATcultura believe that Art reality is under discussion, that is the reason why we prefer to bring about the fantasy world through the magic of the man who always doubts about his memories, so he makes up everything giving birth to the myth of Alejos’ Carpentier wonderful world.
Contemporary Latin-American Art
Nowadays, Argentina seems to be on the way towards a new course after the difficult events marking a break in all spheres of Argentinean society, including Art. Moreover, many neighboring countries are experiencing a similar reality at the moment, in consequence, ATcultura aims to recover the aesthetic ideology; the palette reflecting the history of different peoples, joined by an unavoidable Latin-American felling. ATcultura’ s project is fulfilled through the edition of the “Libro de Arte Iberoamerciano Contemporaneo” (Book of Contemporary Latin-American Art) published in Córdoba, Argentina and to be released worldwide. The purpose of the book is to show the huge panorama of today visual art represented by acclaimed artists as well as by the new generations and their tendencies that have not had the chance yet of showing their highest potential.
| Moreover, we aim at obtaining a high quality edition in order to reach the following goals: to promote recent Latin-American artistic activities, contribute to deepening the artistic knowledge and meaning understanding of the humans and their society, promote art and society, to arouse aesthetic exploration inherent in an artist and its relationship with the Latin-American country of origin. We also wish to record the chosen art-works in order to contribute to the Latin-American Art record, and finally to promote the material published by libraries, art galleries, and the country’s most important bookshops, as well as the publications of the most outstanding foreign museums and universities. |
